Each Fossil Wood specimen has some of the trunk intact and is partly polished Petrified Wood. Petrified Wood is from ancient trees that turned to stone. The specimens we offer are from the Brazilian rain forest. The petrified wood is from trees more than one hundred thousand (100,000) years old. The specimens have been polished on one end to show the color inside of these fantastic fossil tree stumps. These are suitable for landscaping design and interior design. We have a few species of this awesome tropical petrified wood in stock. Minerals present in the mud and water prior to and during the petrification process leached into the wood giving it color. Minerals such as manganese, iron, and copper provide petrified wood with a vibrant color range; from fiery red to glowing green.
