Natural malachite rough is hand polished to a smooth shape and displays chatoyancy (..from the French "chat oeil," meaning "cat's eye" ) when it is moved around under a light. A very unusual property for malachite. The Chrysocolla formed over the Malachite. The natural shades of green and blue give these specimens their distinctive look.
