Kunzite is a variety of spodumene. The color comes from trace amounts of manganese. This is a spectacular Kunzite crystal with many natural facets and is very large for this high quality. Clear Kunzite crystals with deep lilac color are uncommon. Kunzite was discovered in 1902, and was named after George Frederick Kunz, Tiffany & Co's chief jeweler at the time. This particular type of Kunzite crystal is mostly found in Brazil and Pakistan.
